BSAA extends its education and management assistance efforts

Announcement posted by Business Software Association of Australia (BSAA) 18 Oct 2001

Launches E-newsletter with $5,448 incentive to register
The Business Software Association of Australia (BSAA) is extending its education and management assistance activities, with the launch of its first electronic newsletter E-News. Computer users are being offered the chance to win one of two software packs each worth more than $5,400 if they register to receive the free quarterly newsletter before 30 November 2001.

BSAA E-News offers information to help businesses keep up to date on important software licensing issues that could affect their businesses, including how to keep track of software licenses, as well as free tools and resources available from the BSAA and its members. It also includes details of companys recently caught using illegal software together with suggestions about how readers can work to ensure they dont face similar penalties.

According to Jim Macnamara, BSAA Chairman, the BSAA wont be dropping its attention on litigation activities, but it is keen to ramp up its education and assistance focus again.

The BSAA has always run a three prong campaign of education, assistance and litigation, said Mr Macnamara. Without a doubt our litigation activities generally receive the most public attention, but education is a very important role of helping Australians understand the issues of software copyright. We believe BSAA E-News will provide a very useful tool for businesses of all sizes.

The first issue of BSAA E-News has been emailed to a general business list, rented from an Australian list broker. The newsletter invites recipients to register online at www.bsaa.com.au to receive future issues, with the added incentive of the chance to win one of two prize packs of software from BSAA member organizations, each valued at over $5,400.

The BSAA has confirmed that those who have received the first issue will not be sent another issue unless they register at www.bsaa.com.au.
