ABT Online muscles up with more powerful, more cost effective Pronto Xi services in the cloud.

Announcement posted by ABT Group 12 Mar 2014

“The speed and efficiency of our Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud offering for Pronto Xi is essential to meet the growing demands of our clients”
Frank O’Donoghue, Head of Sales and Marketing, ABT Online.

Embarking on a major system wide refresh, ABT Online has consolidated its network, server and storage environment with IBM's FlexSystems technology using separate IBM PureFlex systems in ABT Online's Tier-1 data centre replicating to the ABT Office Server room to host and back up business-critical applications.

Working with Business Partner IBM, ABT Online continues its commitment to provide clients with a leading edge Pronto Xi software service in the cloud.

With this in mind ABT Online have undertaken a major upgrade of their cloud-hosted managed services offering, aiming to meet the future needs of businesses of all sizes.

"What we saw with our old set-up was potential for future short falls in capacity, processing power and efficiency due to multiple server platforms," said Tristan Pascoe, IT Manager, ABT Online.

“We needed to overhaul and renew our entire IT set-up to accommodate growing clients’ needs,” said Tristan. “With this in mind we decided to consolidate and create a strong and reliable single-supplier platform to manage clients’ applications and protect their data.”

Catering for small and medium-sized businesses, ABT Online offers cost-effective cloud services to meet mid-size budgets, allowing businesses to expand without investing thousands of dollars in IT hardware.

“The new FlexSystems platform from IBM allows us to scale up capacity for enterprise clients with data-heavy applications, scale down for smaller clients, and meet client growth expectations in the future,” says Pascoe.

Enhanced Pronto Xi speed and efficiency in the cloud
Pronto Xi will run faster, backups will happen quicker and less disk space will be required.

Part of this speed is also due to ABT Online installing a new IBM Software database to run the Pronto-Xi Business Software Application.

A faster system overall also means Pronto Xi services can now be deployed to customers substantially quicker and more efficiently due to the new platform.

Enhanced Business Intelligence
By migrating customers across to an ABT Online hosted solution, clients can enjoy the convenience of the Cognos web-based dashboard interface as part of their Pronto upgrade.

The addition of Cognos 10 Business Intelligence software provides cloud-hosted Pronto-Xi users with a powerful web-based dashboard interface that simplifies reporting processes, allowing for clearer decision making.

Scalable cloud offering to meet client operations
With the new cloud platform in place, ABT Online can scale its cloud-hosted managed service solutions to meet the different requirements of its customers.

“Through our IBM cloud offering, we can scale up virtual machine capacity when our growing customers need more power,” says Frank O’Donoghue, “It provides them with more flexibility, which in turn helps their business.”

“We can also scale back for smaller clients with sophisticated system requirements, but who previously couldn’t afford our systems,” says O’Donoghue. “We can now offer our Pronto-Xi managed services solution to clients of any size, at a price that suits their requirements on either a Software as a Service (SaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) basis”

Significantly reduced costs 'in the cloud'
ABT Online customers taking advantage of the cloud-hosted Pronto-Xi Business Software Application are saved the expense of replacing their IT system every three to five years, resulting in lower cost of ownership.

"Investing in new server infrastructure across multiple platforms can be costly, capital-intensive and unscalable,” says O’Donoghue. “A fully-managed cloud hosted solution from ABT Online is cheaper for our customers to use as the cost of their ERP and reporting is effectively halved.”

With clients only paying for what they use in the cloud, operational savings can be passed on.

ABT Online clients can expand their business operations confidently without being concerned about capacity and system failure. “Clients can take advantage of cloud technology in an evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, way,” says O’Donoghue. “They simply keep going.”
