Jackson to lead APJ for hybris

Graham Jackson appointed Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific Japan

Sydney – 17 March, 2014. hybris software, an SAP company and the world’s fastest-growing commerce platform provider, has appointed Graham Jackson to the role of senior vice president for APJ, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Greater China.

Jackson has been at the helm of hybris in Australia since the company launched here in July 2012. In less than two years, hybris has become the preferred platform powering leading brands such as Target, General Pants, Lorna Jane, The Winning Group and many others.

Commenting on his appointment, Graham enthused, “There is such a huge opportunity in Asia, due to more people coming online there and buying for the first time. Many of our customers are either looking to establish a presence in Asia or are already there with plans to expand, so we must continue to invest in the region.”

In 2014, for the first time, consumers in Asia Pacific will spend more on e-commerce purchases than those in North America, making it the largest regional e-commerce market in the world.

Growth will come primarily from the rapidly expanding online and mobile user bases in emerging markets, increases in m-commerce sales, advancing shipping and payment options and the push into new international markets by major brands.

“I’m excited to lead the hybris team in a region that is growing and driving technology innovation in commerce,” said Graham Jackson. “We will continue to support our existing customers and their respective plans for growth, but there is also a real opportunity to work with the best local businesses, as well as the large multi-national companies which require a commerce capability in Asia as those markets continue to grow.”

According to a report from eMarketer released in February 2013[1], last year’s B2C e-commerce sales were expected to grow by a massive 18.3 percent to $1.298 trillion worldwide as APAC surpasses North America to become the world's No. 1 market for B2C e-commerce.

Recent figures from the China Internet Network Information Centre[2], show that 75 percent of all of China’s internet users are tapping into the web from mobile devices and tablets. Retailers who embrace a true omni-channel experience have the potential to reach 420 million customers.

This announcement follows hybris’ move in January to extend its global support presence with the launch of the first combined hybris/SAP support centre in Shanghai, China. With hybris and SAP engineers situated in the same office together the new support centre is supporting customers’ needs in the local Chinese market, but it will also be an integral part of hybris’ global 24x7 customer support centre network, servicing requests for assistance throughout the world.

Graham brings over 17 years’ experience in IT and e-commerce and significant regional experience to the role having worked in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore in the past. Prior to joining hybris Graham was managing director, Australia & New Zealand for leading social software and data analytics company Bazaarvoice, and has previously launched two successful IT businesses in Australia and set up operations for two others.
