MCDATA EXPANDS REMOTE MONITORING SERVICE TO DIRECTOR CUSTOMERS

Announcement posted by McData 29 Sep 2006

McDATA Corporation (Nasdaq: MCDTA/MCDT), a leading provider of data access solutions, today announced a new version of their Network Management Service (NMS 2.1) that has the capability to monitor and manage Intrepid i10K Directors. This release now provides customers the option to have around the clock remote monitoring of their storage network infrastructures for enhanced levels of availability and preventative problem resolution. With its NMS offering, McDATA is the only SAN vendor to provide a remote management service that spans the customer's storage network infrastructure.
"Our newly enhanced NMS ensures that customers get the most value from their storage infrastructure investments and is a differentiating factor for our i10K directors," said Rob Beyer, McDATA senior vice president of Customer Support Services. "Through constant monitoring from a centralised control room, McDATA engineers proactively make sure our customers' SANs are running optimally and data is always available on
the corporate networks."
NMS integrates expertise from knowledgeable storage professionals, with comprehensive monitoring approaches, advanced event management, and predictive diagnostic techniques. This integration can reduce more than 50 minutes in overall problem resolution time, resulting in decreased
downtime costs to subscribers. Real-time alerts warn administrators of networking issues or potential system outages and daily reports are generated automatically for event management analysis via a secure Web portal. As a result, customers can minimise the impacts of downtime and performance degradation of critical network constituents in their application infrastructures.
