Anzac Ballot Speculation Set to Rest

Announcement posted by Gallipoli-2015 28 Mar 2014

New Zealand Department of Veterans Affairs source confirms Gallipoli ballot announcement date. Suggests Australia will follow suit on timing.

Successful NZ applicants for the ballot to attend Anzac Centenary commemorations at Gallipoli will be announced on 31 March 2014.  A senior source confirms the Gallipoli ballot process is complete and NZ Minister for Veterans Affairs will hold a morning press conference on 31 March 2014 to officially announce the roll-out of advice to ticket holders.

All successful and unsuccessful Anzac Ballot applicants will be notified by email on 31 March 2014 and receive written confirmation by post.

The suggestion is that travel arrangements should be made before 15 May 2014.  It is anticipated that Turkey-bound flights may sell out.

Ballot ticket holders travelling aboard Azamara Journey on the Gallipoli-2015 cruise are less affected by this issue.  The Epic Cruise departs from the port of Piraeus (Athens) and concludes in Istanbul.  However, passengers do have greater cabin choice and broader flight options by booking early.

All ballot ticket holders are required to produce evidence of travel before 26 October 2014.

Ease of movement for passengers attending the official Anzac Dawn Service at Gallipoli is assured.  Azamara Journey is one of the two cruise ships with Port of Canakkale docking approval over the Anzac Centenary period.
