2015 Gallipoli Ballot Drawn - Travellers Urged to Book

Announcement posted by Gallipoli-2015 31 Mar 2014

With Gallipoli ballot results to be known by some applicants today, those planning to visit Turkey for the Anzac Centenary are advised to book now.

Gallipoli ballot ticket holders may well face 2015 travel difficulty, with nearby accommodation sold out and limited tour options remaining.

A roll-out of notifications to 2,000 successful Anzac Ballot applicants begins in New Zealand today.  To coincide, all 42,000+ Australian registrants are expected to be notified by email and receive postal confirmation over coming weeks.

Thousands of travellers are planning to visit Turkey over the Anzac Centenary.  “Successful ballot ticket holders are now contesting limited travel options”, says Marcus Falay of Fairy Chimneys Travel.  “They’d be well advised to book now and avoid missing out”.

“Most people don’t realise the limited accommodation on Gallipoli peninsula has been booked out years ahead.  That’s why our cruise is attracting so much interest.  Azamara Journey has Port of Canakkale docking approval, so passengers lucky enough to hold tickets can get to and from the official ceremony with ease.”

Agreement between the Turkish, Australian and New Zealand governments has limited capacity to the official Dawn Service and other Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli on 25 April 2015.  The fragile environment as well as safety and space constraints have limited public access to just 10,000.

“The only way to be sure of standing in the Gallipoli dawn to mark 100 years of Anzac is aboard a cruise ship.  It’s an authentic experience.  That’s what most of the landing force was doing in the pre-dawn on 25th April 1915.”

“Australian travellers need to act fast to secure 2015 travel.  Few places remain and we expect our Anzac Cruise and tour could sell out within days.  It’s a genuine case of he who hesitates is lost.”
