Announcement posted by SCO Group 04 Mar 2003

UnitedLinux has announced that it has completed certification of UnitedLinux Version 1.0 with both Oracle9i Database and its database clustering technology, Oracle9i Real Application Clusters. UnitedLinux is an industry initiative designed to streamline Linux development and certification around a global, uniform distribution of Linux. Committed to the wide-spread market adoption of Linux, Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, has been delivering leading database solutions to enterprise customers since 1979.
Through a dedicated engineering relationship among UnitedLinux founder companies and with the support of HP (NYSE:HPQ), all the products powered by UnitedLinux 1.0 - including SCO Linux Server 4.0 - have been tested and certified with Oracle9i Database and Oracle9i Real Application Clusters. In Australia and New Zealand, the UnitedLinux distribution is available exclusively through The SCO Group (www.sco.com).
"Businesses deploying the Oracle9i Database or Real Application Clusters now have a real choice when it comes to powerful and scalable performance," said Kieran O'Shaughnessy, SCO's regional general manager for Australia and New Zealand. "With the availability of SCO Linux Server 4.0, powered by UnitedLinux, Oracle customers and partners considering Linux are no longer locked exclusively to the Red Hat platform, and instead, can rely on the proven enterprise performance and support from the SCO network."
"Completing the certification with Oracle9i Database is a milestone for UnitedLinux, delivering another piece of our vision of a consistent, interoperable global Linux distribution," said Paula Hunter, general manager of UnitedLinux LLC. "Customers choosing solutions with products powered by UnitedLinux 1.0 can now use Oracle9i Database and its database clustering technology with confidence."
"The certification of UnitedLinux with Oracle9i Database is yet another proof point of Oracle's substantial commitment to validating Linux as an enterprise-class platform," said Dave Dargo, vice president, Linux Program Office, Oracle Corporation. "Oracle9i Database and Oracle9i Real Application Clusters running on products powered by UnitedLinux offer customers a reliable, robust and cost-effective combination for the most demanding workloads."
Founding companies of UnitedLinux are Linux industry leaders The SCO Group (NASDAQ:SCOX), Conectiva S.A., SuSE Linux and Turbolinux, Inc. UnitedLinux Version 1.0 is the engine that powers products sold by the four companies, each with its own value-add features, support and pricing. Built on top of a solid and tested foundation, UnitedLinux 1.0 is an enterprise-class operating system with exceptional stability, scalability and reliability, and its high level of quality has been previously available only in expensive proprietary operating systems.
