Sydney, Australia - 07 April 2014 –Brother Australia is proud to announce that the recently launched ScanNCut; the world’s first home and hobby cutting machine with a built-in scanner, has won two of the most prestigious awards in the crafting and technology industries.

After three weeks of deliberations in North America and Europe, five judges from the industry research firm Envisioneering selected Brother’s ScanNCut as a winner of the Innovation & Design Award from more than 120 companies that launched new products during ShowStoppers at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Maintaining a winning momentum, ScanNCut was unanimously voted the #1 Most Creative Item the same week at the Craft & Hobby Mega Show in Anaheim by the Board of Directors of the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA).

Laura Penuela, Marketing Manager, Home Sewing Machines at Brother International Australia said “We are extremely honoured to be recognised with such important awards in the crafting and technology industries. ScanNCut is truly revolutionising the traditional electronic cutting machines market, since the Australian launch in December last year, ScanNCut has positioned itself as an indispensable tool for crafters and scrapbookers”.

ScanNCut sets the stage for ground-breaking technology in the crafting industry. The first of its kind with a built-in 300 DPI scanner, gives crafters the ability to scan anything they see, including clip art, save it to the machines memory to create endless cut designs—all without using a computer or having to purchase a single cartridge. ScanNCut has raised the bar for electronic cutting machines. With up to 840 built-in designs, including quilt and appliqué patterns, and a scanning area almost 12 inches wide, the possibilities of creating your most far-reaching designs and preserving moments in time are closer than ever before. Want to remember the first word your child wrote, scan it in, cut it out and create a keepsake forever.

Attendees at both CES and CHA were all the rave about the ScanNCut from Brother as they felt their creative juices flowing with bold and unique ideas. “I didn’t think I could scan clip art and it would cut the data with such precision,” said Liz Hicks, an expert industry crafter in the US. Kacia Hosmer, the designer behind Coconut Robot was equally thrilled and impressed and stated, “ScanNCut even calculates a seam allowance for quilt blocks. It really is the must-have tool for quilters!”

Reaching for the clouds, Brother raised the bar even higher with ScanNCut Canvas, a free cloud-based web application allowing designers to take their work to another level, creating original cut drawing data and converting SVG files to a format compatible with ScanNCut. Now, it’s easier than ever before to transfer files through the ScanNCut memory stick port. Never lose another document or cherished family photo again—just use ScanNCut as your own personal home scanner.

As ScanNCut is recognised as the #1 Most Creative Item by the Craft & Hobby Association and selected a winner of the prestigious Innovation & Design award, Brother Australia continues to set the standard for creative innovation and ground-breaking technology.

The new Brother ScanNCut home and hobby cutting machine is available at Spotlight, Lincraft, Brother Home Sewing Machines Authorised Dealers and selected Craft & Hobby outlets.
