Wichita Airport Selects Cloud FIDS System

Announcement posted by Intersystems Group 09 Apr 2014

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (ICT) in Wichita, Kansas, United States has selected Intersystems Rapid in the Cloud to drive their Flight Information Display System (FIDS).

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is Intersystems first Rapid in the Cloud deployment and features a range of FIDS displays throughout the airport, the latest generation GMC8 FIDS controllers and TBIDs for baggage data input. Intersystems will be working as a sub-contractor to Leidos to deliver the FIDS component of the terminal redevelopment project with a early 2015 delivery anticipated.

Communicating to Intersystems cloud hosted FIDS servers, Rapid in the Cloud greatly simplifies the airports upfront requirements and long-term service needs. As an Intersystems hosted solution, we take responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the system whilst offering the same exceptional up-time and 24/7 system support.

In addition, Wichita Airport will benefit from always being on the most current RapidFIDS software releases delivered automatically via the cloud at no additional cost to them.

"Cloud offers many advantages over traditional hosted solutions - it was only a matter of time before airport applications started to migrate to the cloud," commented Bruce Allen, CEO of Intersystems.

"We've rethought how airports access applications allowing us to substantially reduce the hassles of installation and management resulting in a system that redefines airport applications: its simple, scalable, manageable and best of all, affordable regardless of your airports size."
