Bluethumb Online Art Gallery has today launched its free Android version of its popular online art gallery app.
The app allows art collectors to browse and purchase art from the full gallery of more than 5,000 artworks from over 1,000 of Australia’s leading and emerging artists, direct from their Android phone.
Bluethumb Director George Hartley said the app is built for a wide array of Android 4.0+ phones and tablets, including the new Samsung Galaxy S5 and Nexus 5.
“The design adapts to various screen sizes, making it feel natural and familiar to users across different devices,” Mr Hartley said.
“The gallery now hosts more than 1,000 Australian artists and the addition of Android to the existing iOS offering means we have the capability to engage with more than double the potential audience we reached previously,” he said.
“Bluethumb continues to lead the way in the online art space by investing in its artists, platforms and apps. Apple already recognised the quality of our iPhone app by featuring it in the app store as ‘New & Noteworthy’. Now an Australian artist can join for free and have their works immediately exhibited across Bluethumb web, iOS and Android apps."
Bluethumb is an online community where artists can directly display and sell their work. It charges a low commission on the sale price, and lets customers buy directly from artists, disrupting the traditional bricks-and-mortar gallery structure.
“We think we've developed the most beautiful, user-friendly Android art app in the world. We've combined key app features like an up to the second stream of new artworks, favouriting artworks, remembering user details, excellent customer service combined with free shipping,” Mr Hartley said.
