Enterprise Ready iPad Mini™ Sled Now Offering Australia and New Zealand Businesses Greater Customer Engagement

Announcement posted by Honeywell Scanning and Mobility 08 May 2014

Retail, Hospitality and Service Professionals Can Better Engage with Consumers Using the Captuvo SL62and iPad Mini Mobile Digital Device

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) todayannounced its new Captuvo SL62 enterprise sled, an encasement that transforms an Apple® iPad mini into a customer engagement tool, has been launched to Australian and New Zealand retail, hospitality and field service professionals.

Building off Honeywell’s successful Captuvo line, which includes the SL22 and SL42 encasements for fifth generation iPod touch® and iPhone® 5 devices, the SL62 helps employees look up inventory, scan barcodes and loyalty program cards, increasing customer engagement and improving mobile point-of-sale. It gives employees access to transaction data via the Web or mobile apps, providing an opportunity to upsell products and services and keep customers more engaged in the buying process.

The Captuvo SL62 is designed for all versions of the iPad mini, which offers a larger screen size than the iPod touch or iPhones. An optional magnetic stripe reader allows employees to check-out customers on the spot, whether in a retail store or restaurant.  Additionally, the Captuvo SL62 provides power to the iPad mini when it needs it most, which reduces downtime and maximises productivity.

“Captuvo SL62 strengthens the range of Honeywell products designed specifically for use in the retail and food service industry to allow store employees to use more Apple® products to improve shopping or dining customer service levels,” said Tony Repaci, Honeywell Scanning and Mobility Country Manager, ANZ. “Employees can now go to the customer rather than be behind a counter to answer questions about products and process payments for them anywhere in the store. It also allows retail stores and restaurants to have the flexibility to support BYOD applications during busy periods.”

In addition to allowing associates to go “beyond the counter” and engage with consumers directly, the Captuvo SL62 can improve the gift registry process for brick-and-mortar retailers. Now, shoppers can use the device to scan products, look up information and reviews and add products to a registry as they walk the store. This customer-friendly design can lead to the potential elimination of gift registry kiosks.

Also an ideal solution for hospitality workers, the Captuvo SL62 gives café and restaurant owners the ability to facilitate point-of-sale transactions and manage inventory from one device. Food service staff can use the Captuvo SL62 to place orders, describe different menu options and quickly facilitate payment at the table. The Captuvo SL62 can be customized with the brand or restaurant’s logo.

Equipped with second-to-none imaging capabilities and Honeywell’s AdaptusTM 6.0 imaging technology, the Captuvo SL62 can accurately read most bar codes, including government issued IDs, coupons or loyalty club bar codes. The sleek and protective design is able to withstand multiple 4-foot drops.
