Ausmed app boosts nurses’ know-how

A pioneer of Australian online professional education for nurses is offering Australia’s 350,000+ nurses and midwives a timely International Nurses Day (IND) gift:168 hours of free lectures streamed via the Ausmed On-the-Go app, starting on 12 May.

Ausmed On-the-Go is the latest addition to Ausmed Education’s innovative learning suite for the largest segment of the national healthcare workforce.

With the 31 May deadline now looming for nurses and midwives to ensure their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) documentation is up to date, the app has become a popular tool for nurses completing the mandatory 20 or more CPD hours required every year to maintain their eligibility to practise in Australia.

Daily downloads of Ausmed On-the-Go have exceeded expectations since it was launched in January this year, and the installation figures continue to rise.

Ausmed founder and CEO Cynthea Wellings said the app was designed to help nurses access high quality and relevant education anywhere and at any time, regardless of their shifts and other commitments.

“This year’s theme for International Nurses Day is ‘Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health’, and the International Council of Nurses has identified education as a fundamental source of empowerment for nurses to effect change, and improve patient care” Ms Wellings said.

“While education-boosted productivity is an economic goal for many industry sectors, the nursing profession has particular challenges, like trying to achieve work-life balance with the added pressures of shift work, chronic staff shortages and compulsory CPD commitments.

With registrations due for renewal at the end of May, Ausmed’s offer is a timely gift as well as a genuine gesture to celebrate a worldwide awareness day for the nursing profession.

Ms Wellings said the complimentary access to 240+ lectures via the Ausmed On-the-Go app demonstrated the company’s commitment to nursing professionalism and to improving patient care through education and technology.
