Announcement posted by Gem Tresor Pty Ltd 20 May 2014

Melbourne 13th May 2014 – for immediate release:
Justus Hammer, co-founder of Spreets.com.au, and Bjorn Behrendt, co-founder of StyleTread.com.au, have joined the advisory board and participated in a seed funding round of Melbourne-based online jewellery startup Gemjoli.com.au. The two serial entrepreneurs will advise the founding team on their go-to-market and funding strategies moving forward.

“Gemjoli is like 99designs for jewellery. It not only offers endless customization options to customers but a platform for jewellery designers to work with Gemjoli customers on that special piece of jewellery. No matter how crazy a jewellery idea is, Gemjoli will turn an idea into a very unique and personal piece of jewellery and all that for an unbeatable price.” says Justus Hammer

“Gemjoli is a fascinating startup that allows the online configuration of handmade jewellery with millions of different style, gemstone and metal combinations. The 3D CAD (computer aided designs) engine renders custom high-resolution images in split seconds depending on what materials as well as stones the customer selects.” adds Bjorn Behrendt

Gemjoli’s story:
Gemjoli was founded by Australian’s Payal and Sundeep Maheshwari who launched their online business in January 2014 with a unique catalogue of customizable rings and necklaces in endless variations. The startup that targets the $1.6bn jewellery market already has over 4,000 Facebook fans. All products are handmade and sourced from international designers at competitive prices with a 30-day free return policy. Purchases over $1,000 come with a free valuation certificate issued from an Australian-qualified gemologist from the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV).

What customers say about us:
"I love the ability to alter the stones and metals of the designed pieces. It was a cool experience to design my own ring and then put it on my finger only shortly after." Di, Sydney.
"Unique pieces, with much better quality than mass produced chain jewellers." Lisa, Melbourne.
