Softlink celebrates thirty years of innovation at EduTECH

Announcement posted by Softlink 29 May 2014

As an Australian start-up in a fast moving environment, Softlink is proud to have grown and evolved, and to be celebrating our thirtieth year at this year’s EduTECH conference.

From the outset, Softlink focussed on supplying Australian educators with quality library management solutions, so EduTECH is the perfect place to be celebrating.

Softlink’s Chief Operating Officer, Nathan Godfrey said that some of our earliest client schools will have representatives at EduTECH 2014, and they are still our clients’ today.

Responding to the changing needs of educators, students and library managers is what has established Softlink as the leading supplier they are today.

Nathan said that Softlink now provides services to over 10,000 libraries worldwide, in 108 nations and has offices in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA plus agents in Asia, Africa and South America.

Softlink Support Services Manager, Ian West, who has worked for Softlink since 1987, said that the solutions offered today are very different from the original products but that the culture of innovation and support within Softlink hasn’t changed.

‘Our first library management system, ALARM, was DOS based with library cataloguing and circulation functions. Now we offer complete knowledge, content and library management solutions providing deep digital integration with eBooks and anytime, anywhere access with web-based or mobile app connectivity,’ he said.

The latest Softlink solutions, which continue to be upgraded and innovated, are allowing educators and libraries worldwide to facilitate learning, curate information, and offer a contemporary, streamlined and engaging user experience.

Ian said that it’s the feedback we get from our many education clients and participation in forums that feeds product upgrades and developments.

Nathan Godfrey said that while Softlink is clearly a very different organisation to the one founded in 1983, the values that drive the Softlink team remain the same.

‘Softlink’s focus is to provide innovation that empowers learning and meets the changing needs of educators,’ he said.

‘It’s our focus on these goals and commitment to excellence in support and service that has made us the business we are today, and will enable us to best serve educators and libraries in the future.’
