PRESTIGE YARRA VALLEY WINE PRODUCER LAUNCHES IN LONDON

Announcement posted by Levantine Hill 30 Jun 2014

Levantine Hill Estate is very proud to announce that its premium Yarra Valley Australian wines have now landed in London, an important milestone in exposing an international audience to these much heralded wines.

Londoners will now enjoy the wines at Michelin-starred restaurant Outlaw’s at The Capital, The Capital Hotel Bar and The Metro at The Levin Hotel, in Basil Street, Knightsbridge. Further international growth is anticipated for the wines in other parts of Europe and Asia.

Levantine Hill is also very pleased to announce its wines will be previewed for retail and on-trade at a London Trade Tasting on Wednesday 9 July 2014 at The Capital Hotel. Levantine Hill’s official London launch will be presented to British wine media on Tuesday 30 September 2014 at The Capital.

Levantine Hill is based in Coldstream in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. It is the combination of two vineyards: an established vineyard along the bank of the Yarra River and flagship family blocks which sit atop one of the highest hills on the Valley’s floor. The vineyards rise from 75 to 225 metres above sea level.

This spectacular estate was the long held vision of successful Australian businessman Elias Jreissati and his wife Colleen, who wished to encapsulate the artisan traditions and superlative quality of world’s best wines. Mr Jreissati explained: “About a decade ago, my wife and I had a vision to establish a wine estate that would produce wines that could rival not only the best of the Yarra Valley or Australia but, terroir notwithstanding, the world’s most renowned wines. We recognise that this was a high aspiration, but life is too short to make anything but big plans.”

“I was particularly enamoured by the softness and sophistication of the two Rothschild 1er Cru blends and so, I planted ‘Samantha’s Paddock’ to those varieties on a rocky hill at a 29 per cent slope. That the experts told me it was impossible to plant a vineyard and a diamond-tipped drilling rig would be required, only enthused and encouraged us,” Mr Jreissati said.

Levantine Hill’s vision to produce exceptional wines, handcrafted without compromise, was recently put to the test at the Benchmark Masterclass, hosted by Armadale Cellars in Melbourne on 4 June 2014. These exciting wines were boldly tasted alongside the French Premier Cru and Grand Crus that inspired them, in the presence of 30 wine professionals, enthusiasts and media alike.

Guest and renowned Australian wine writer, Nick Stock, rated the Pinot Noir 2012 within one point of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grand Cru Echèzeaux and the Samantha’s Paddock Melange Traditionnel within two points of Château Mouton Rothschild.

In Australia, Levantine Hill wines have received accolades and industry recognition, appearing on some of Australia’s most exclusive wine lists such as Melbourne’s Vue de Monde, Attica, Flower Drum, MoVida and Ezard, as well as Sydney’s ARIA Restaurant, China Lane, Bambini Trust and The Star’s BLACK.

The Family is thrilled to now be launching Levantine Hill wines into the London gastronomic scene.
