Request wins prestigious CommsWorld Industry Award

Announcement posted by Request Broadband 02 Sep 2003

Broadband Wholesale Carrier of the Year
Request Broadband Pty Ltd (Request), a leading Australian broadband services provider, has been awarded the CommsWorld Telecomms 2003 industry award for Broadband Wholesale Carrier of the Year. The award was presented in Sydney on 28 August during the annual CommsWorld Telecomms Awards Dinner where standards of excellence are recognised in all fields of telecommunications services.
In just over three years, Request has grown from a business idea and two people to a vibrant and successful wholesale broadband services company providing broadband IP networking services throughout Australia.
The company has deployed a national broadband IP network and now has the second largest business customer base with over 11,000 business sites now connected and an estimated 80,000 end users.
Request has led the industry in developing a vibrant and successful channel model where Request partners provide service to all market sectors throughout Australia.
This award is a tangible acknowledgement of Requests accomplishments throughout the last year, said Phil Sykes, CEO of Request. We attribute this success to our increasing levels of innovation and service quality, the strength of our partnership with channels and broadened market awareness."
In August 2003, Request announced it was the first Australian broadband carrier to achieve certification to the AS7799.2:2003 standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). The initiative took nine months to successfully complete and provides Request with the unique market advantage of being the only national, broadband IP networking provider that is able to deliver DSL and VPN services supported by compliance with the AS/NSZ 7799.2 Information Security Management Systems standard.
From its sound financial base and continued sales growth, particularly in network-based IP Virtual Private Networking (IP VPN) services, Request is deploying additional network infrastructure into 38 exchange areas across Australia over the next 12 months.
We see the CommsWorld Telecomms awards as recognition of the telecommunications companies who are continuing to grow and thrive in what has been a difficult trading environment, said Sykes. Request is strongly positioned to continue to build on the business success it has created.
