Artisan San Remo pasta proves a perfect match with Melbourne Truffle Festival

Announcement posted by Leverage PR 03 Jul 2014

Fresh truffles have a reputation the world over as a decadent cooking ingredient, and when combined with Artisan San Remo Pasta it is sure to produce a pasta dish that is perfect for a dinner with a difference.

As a sponsor of the inaugural Truffle Melbourne 2014, San Remo will help bring together truffle growers from across the country, some of the world’s best chefs, and the finest artisan food and beverage producers for people to enjoy.

San Remo brand ambassador, Adam Swanson, said he was looking forward to sharing his passion for pasta with Festival goers, and participating in cooking demonstrations alongside other renowned chefs such as Manu Feildel, Phillipe Mouchel, and Guy Grossi, at Caulfield Racecourse on 12-13 July.

“The ingredients used to make an outstanding sauce only go part of the way towards creating the perfect pasta meal, with the real secret of success coming down to using the very best quality pasta and making sure it is cooked perfectly al dente,” Adam says.

“I want people to draw inspiration from pasta’s Italian heritage by explaining how they should savour the aroma and bring out the taste of quality pasta when cooking at home, and then enhance a dish by adding truffle just as they would herbs, garlic or onions,” he says.

“Cooking with truffles is actually easier than most people think, and when combined with Artisan San Remo Pasta, the special shapes which have been extruded through bronze dies offer a rustic rough texture and a delicious taste sensation.”

Also showcasing the synergy between truffles and Artisan San Remo pasta during the 3-day event is one of the world's finest French chefs in the gourmet world - Normandy-born, Philippe Mouchel.

Best known for his work at Paul Bocuse in Lyon, Japan, Hong Kong and Houston, the brasserie by Philippe Mouchel at Crown, Paul Bocuse in Melbourne and at PM 24, at least one of the executive chef’s master-classes will showcase quality San Remo pasta and the world’s most desirable fungus.

With cooking and eating quality food such an important part of life for most Australians, San Remo brand Ambassador, Adam Swanson, encouraged people to visit Truffle Melbourne 2014 and learn tips of the trade from some of the best in the business.

“Cooking demonstrations are always popular, and people will be able to see first-hand how to make great truffle dishes at home, share the truffle secrets of our best chefs and artisan food producers, and learn how to turn great pasta into an extraordinary meal,” Adam says.

Adam opened his first restaurant Zucca Greek Mezze in late 2003 which won the ‘Best Mediterranean Restaurant’ award for three consecutive years, and has been entered in the hall of fame by the Restaurant and Catering Association of South Australia.
