Your Guide to Victoria's Best Wines

Announcement posted by Dig & Fish 09 Jul 2014

The Inaugural VIC100 Wine Awards

Held for the first time this year, the VIC100 is designed to judge and identify the top 100 wines of Victoria. This list will be developed without predetermined expectations as to the number of wines to represent each style, therefore allowing the vintage conditions to influence the makeup of the list each year.

The aim is to provide consumers with a relevant but expansive list from which to fully appreciate and explore the depth and quality of the Victorian Wine industry.  A VIC1 will also be awarded.  Furthermore, in support and recognition of the distinct wine regions within Victoria there will also be a number of regional awards.

The VIC100 is run and operated by Flavour Exchange in conjunction with Head Judge and Curator of the VIC100 Nick Stock.

When speaking on the VIC100, Nick Stock said “The VIC100 is a celebration of the best Victorian wine. The connection between the city of Melbourne and the wines and produce of regional Victoria is bound by closer ties than any other state in Australia. On top of that, world class wines produced throughout Victoria cover an unrivalled range of styles.”

Entries are now open to all Victorian wineries with judging taking place 26 and 27 August.  The VIC100 will be announced on Thursday 4 September as part of Spring Flavour Exchange with a consumer tasting of the Top 100 wines taking place in the Atrium at Federation Square on Saturday 6 September.

The entry fee is $80 per wine, discounted to $40 per wine for any winery that has participated at Flavour Exchange during the year.  Wines must be commercially labelled and ready for release if not already in the market with a minimum volume of 50 dozen still available for commercial sale.
