Many million dollar ideas come out of these events, and large tech corporations and venture capitalists like to keep their on eyes on them to unearth new talent and techonlogy breakthroughs. One notable example is the 'Groupme' app acquired by Skype for over $50 million.

This year's Hackagong event will be hosted by the University of Wollongong in late November. For the 3rd year running, Nathan Waters and his team of volunteers and students are putting together what they hope will be the biggest and best Hackathon event Australia has ever seen.
