Tranby Primary School Becomes Latest Artificial Grass “Convert” in Perth Suburbs

Announcement posted by Green Planet Grass 17 Jul 2014

Why artificial grass is becoming the surface of choice for many Perth area playgrounds and schools.
Perth, WA, 17 July 2014 - Located in Rivervale, a suburb located within Belmont, Tranby Primary School has approximately 190 students. The surrounding community is close knit; a diverse combination of new developments and old homes. Students of Tranby and their parents have a lot of pride in their school due to its positive, “can-do” attitude and their focus on diversity, respect for other cultures and self-esteem.

Recently, Tranby got something else to be proud of: a new, artificial grass playground installed by Green Planet Grass. The playground consists of two different colours of grass: blue and yellow. These are now combined with the site’s numerous palm trees to create a beach motif. The students are happy and have a lot of fun on one of the most unique playgrounds of any school.

Why So Many Schools are Changing Over to Artificial Grass

According to Justin Everley, Director of Green Planet Grass, “Once you get past the initial cost of installation, Green Planet Grass is by far the most cost-effective long term solution for residential, school or sport applications.”

Low Maintenance

One of the biggest savings is on maintenance. A synthetic grass playground doesn’t have to be watered, saving money and helping the Perth environment in an era of perpetual drought. It doesn’t have to be mowed, saving untold money on labour. It also doesn’t need any chemicals such as fertilisers, weed-killers or insecticides, saving the budget and environment even more. There is no annual reseeding with Green Planet Grass, either.

The only real maintenance is to keep the playground clean and free of debris. This can be done easily in an hour a day for most playgrounds, if that, as long as kids are discouraged from bringing food to the playground and there are plenty of waste containers available.

Safety First

Thanks to modern technology, a Green Planet Grass playground is safer than most natural grass playgrounds. Those who install artificial grass playgrounds in Perth and all of Australia are subject to Australian Critical Fall Height Standards.

According to Mr Everley, “We always exceed any safety standards because we have three ways of providing a “softer landing” for those who fall. Our GPG Play Fill as an inorganic material that does not compact. In addition, our grass fibres are thick and soft, providing more protection. Finally, we can install a shock pad beneath the surface, providing the ultimate protection and cushioning”.

Appearance and Durability

Green Planet Grass can be counted on to retain a perfect appearance 365 days a year, regardless of weather or foot traffic. According to Mr Everley, “Though our warranty is only for ten years, we project a lifespan of twenty years or more for many applications.”
