Nappy changing empowers Aussie parents

Canstar Blue releases Disposable Nappies 2014 – Most Satisfied Customers Award
Getting used to changing their baby’s dirty nappies has given more than two thirds of Australian parents the confidence to do anything they want.

That’s one of the findings of a new study from customer satisfaction research company Canstar Blue, which also found that price is more important than environmental friendliness for three in five mums and dads.

But despite being able to handle even the messiest and smelliest of situations, Aussies parents are still favouring disposable nappies over cloth nappies that have to be washed.

Two thirds of survey respondents said they believe disposable nappies are too expensive, but less than half have tried using reusable cloth nappies on their little one. Of those, three quarters said they tried them in a bid to save money, but just two in five said reusable cloth nappies were their preferred option.

Meanwhile just over a quarter of parents said they have tried disposable bamboo nappies on their baby, and of those four in five said they would purchase them again.

But when it comes to standard disposable nappies, Aussie parents are looking for good quality at a reasonable price.

ALDI beat off tough competition to achieve Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customers Award – Disposable Nappies.

ALDI’s Mamia brand received five-star ratings in the categories of value for money, baby comfort, ability to prevent leaks and overall satisfaction with the disposable nappies.

It is the fourth year in succession that ALDI has achieved a five-star rating for value for money and the second time it has claimed Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customers Award, having also been the recipient in 2011.

“It’s exciting to learn that our Mamia range of nappies has been given such a strong endorsement by Australian parents,” said an ALDI Australia spokesperson. “We aim to offer a high quality product at very competitive prices and we’re thrilled to receive Canstar Blue’s award for having the most satisfied customers in this area.

“ALDI understands life with little ones can be busy and messy, so we have worked hard to ensure our exclusive Mamia range offers affordable, high quality solutions for parents – to make life just that little bit easier.”

Of the other brands mentioned in the Canstar Blue survey, BabyLove achieved good results across most categories, while Huggies earned five-star ratings for look and style, ability to prevent leaks, fit and baby comfort.

“Overall the mums and dads we surveyed seem to be fairly happy with the brand of nappies they buy,” said Megan Doyle, Canstar Blue Business Unit Leader. “Parents will always want the best for their babies, so good quality at a reasonable price is likely to be a winning combination for many.

“Congratulations to everyone at ALDI on winning our Most Satisfied Customers Award – to achieve five-star ratings in four out of six categories is a great achievement, and a clear indicator that they are keeping their customers very happy.”
