...builds portlet for IBM WebSphere Portal Server
Leading, global integrated web solutions provider Presence Online is raising the bar on web content management capability with the imminent release of its latest version of the Aptrix Multi-Platform Java Platform Edition (JPE) 2.1.

Aptrix JPE 2.1, which already fully supports IBMs WebSphere software platform and its extensions, leads the way in enterprise-class systems, demonstrated in its support for IBMs eServer zSeries hardware, and in its support for open standards such as Java and Linux.

Delivering enterprise scalability and available early in the new year, Aptrix JPE 2.1, boasts enhanced features around content distribution, personalisation, security and administration.

It will handle a lot more content and so fits even better with IBM Content Manager, says Presence Online Director Tim Birdsall. Its faster for both content authors and users. And itll be easier to use, following further streamlining of the content authoring process.

When it comes to web content management and the ability to leverage the features and functionality of entire platforms, not least WebSphere, Presence Online is in a league of its own.

Aptrix Multi-Platform, Birdsall adds, delivers dynamic content, allowing the same content to be delivered to different sites, users and display devices, such as the web, WAP and XML.

Presence Online has also announced that its currently building a portlet for IBMs recently launched strategic portal initiative, WebSphere Portal Server.

Portals are becoming strategically significant as companies struggle to cope with information overload, and increasingly require single-access points, which can also be personalised to individual users and incorporate a transaction-based layer, explains Birdsall.

To be effective, however, portals need to bring value to all the participants. Ease of use, sophisticated workflow security control, version control, and personalisation are all key criteria.

Aptrix has been rated highly by META Group and other analysts in all these areas. All this Aptrix functionality will be available to content authors within IBMs WebSphere Portal Server through the Aptrix portlet. This will make life for content authors even easier with access to Aptrix via the portal enabling the creation and management of content within the portal.

Jack Verdins, Market Manager for WebSphere at IBM, welcomed both announcements. Were really pleased that organisations like Presence Online see the value in basing their offering on WebSphere the number one web application server in Australia, according to IDC. WebSphere has a large installed base in Australia, which gives our business partners access to new markets and customers.
