Domestic travel is on the rise in Victoria, so it’s time to plan your next family holiday and the 2014 Melbourne Leisurefest is just the place to do it!

Rob Lucas, CEO of the Caravan Industry Association Victoria (CIAVIC) commented, “Victoria has lots of places to experience and visit including over 500 caravan and holiday parks.”
This is reflected in the states domestic and international visitor results. In the year ending March 2014, Victoria experienced a 6.9% growth in domestic overnight visitors totaling 19.1 million, and a 10% growth in international visitors reaching just under 2 million for the year ending March 2014.
“Melbourne Leisurefest is one of Victoria’s biggest caravanning, camping and 4x4 shows and supports the caravanning and camping industries which are significant contributors to the Victorian and national economies generating $1.4 billion per annum in revenue and employing over 5, 150 people in Victorian Trade Businesses,” continues Rob Lucas.

UNITED HAVEN CHARITY VAN
There will be lots of prizes and giveaways to be won at the show including a 23ft custom-built family caravan! The caravan itself, named the United Haven, was built by various RV manufacturers in an effort to raise money for the Kids Undercover Charity- specifically for the From Living Tough to Living Safe campaign.
Caravan Industry Association Victoria have teamed up with the Kids Undercover Charity and will be selling raffle tickets to enter the draw. All proceeds will go to building relocatable studio units for homeless youth.
Rob Lucas said, “This is a pro-active campaign aimed at providing an appropriate intervention where a young person can’t live at home for whatever reason.”
