Triple your career options: get three diplomas in one year

Announcement posted by William Angliss Institute 21 Aug 2014

William Angliss Institute Sydney today launched an exciting new qualification that rolls three diplomas into one year of study.

It’s perfect for those who have dreamed of a career where they can cruise the open ocean, rub shoulders at exclusive events with celebrities or work in some of the world’s most luxurious hotels.

The new course, called the Diplomas in Tourism and Travel, Events and Hospitality, integrates three separate diplomas into one course so graduates can embark on careers that hold vast opportunities.

William Angliss Institute Sydney’s Hospitality Program Leader, Matthew Steel, adapted the programs to meet an industry need for multi-skilled staff who can adapt in a rapidly changing business environment.

Matthew said, “All three industries are set to grow here in Australia and overseas.  This is the ideal qualification for anyone who has aspirations of launching a global career in any of these fields. Students build specialist knowledge across the key subjects in just one year of study.”

“Many units are common across all three qualifications. A range of electives allow students to gain an understanding of other key areas, such as food and beverage management, wine tourism, managing  events and catering operations, operating a bar and using industry standard tools to book domestic and international airfares,” he said.

The first intake in February 2015 will be based at the Institute’s state of the art campus in Sydney’s restaurant hub in Surry Hills.

During their study, students have access to guidance from industry professionals, fully equipped commercial kitchens, café and restaurant facilities to complete practical work, and will go on excursions to experience what it’s like to work in leading facilities across a range of industry environments. Students also have access to  valuable work experience opportunities during their course and on completion of their studies.

“It can be difficult for young people to choose a specific career path. This course gives students exposure to various different areas while they study. Employers also benefit as they can employ graduates with experience in a range of areas and a clearer idea about where their skills and interests lie,” he said.
