WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY

Announcement posted by Photo Marketing Association Australia 28 Aug 2014

The first Educational Photo Expo in Brisbane was a great success

Whilst one event does not prove a point, it does seem the results in Brisbane last weekend at the Educational Photo Expo are a clear indication that consumer education is a key part to the success of the photographic industry.

1743.jpg Mark Alderson from Camera House and Nic Peasley from Teds were, from the outset, convinced, as was the Photo Marketing Association that educational sessions linked with a mini expo, with retailers present to "close the sale", was a formula that would work. The concept needed to be cost effective and to be "portable" to take around Australia.  This belief was shared by our major sponsors Canon and Nikon who assisted greatly in bringing this Expo to fruition.

Brisbane attracted over 360 consumers who attended a wide ranging series of educational sessions from photography tips and tricks, photo memory books, to what camera gear to take when you travelling. It was gratifying to see these sessions were well supported from early morning through to the evening. The thirst for knowledge was clearly evident.

The messages from attendees was very pleasing: "excellent", "learnt a lot", "enjoyed the session" "will be back next year". Trade participation is paramount in the success of an event such as this. Comments from the exhibitors were clear, "we want to participate next year".

Barbara Bryan, Events Manager for the Photo Marketing Association, said "The success of this event means I am already I'm looking at venues around the country for 2015, we're gearing up to have multiple expos...so get ready for what's coming. The success of this compact Expo proves it is worth getting involved as a value add for the photo industry!"

"Sponsored by Canon and Nikon and supported by Ted's Cameras and Camera House there were door prizes and lucky ticket prizes of digital cameras, metal art panels, Indulgence Photographic packages and more."

She continued, "Now to Melbourne on 6th September at the Victoria University where we will do the whole show again".
