Powerful Enterprise Application Suite Unleashes New Wave of Critical Functionality To Address Real-World Requirements of Todays Manufacturing Environments
QAD, a leading provider of collaborative commerce solutions for manufacturers, today announced the general availability of MFG/PRO eB2, its comprehensive, Web-enabled suite of enterprise applications for manufacturing, distribution and financial management in Australia and New Zealand.

MFG/PRO eB2 incorporates more than two dozen important new areas of functionality, and includes more than 20 enhancements requested by global manufacturers to address their specific needs.

With MFG/PRO eB2, QAD draws upon more than two decades of unwavering focus on manufacturing systems, resulting in a release that reaffirms QADs reputation for delivering unmatched manufacturing functionality, elegant software design and solutions that result in low total cost of ownership. From single-site operators to multi-nationals, manufacturers will find relevant new functionality in the manufacturing, distribution and financial management applications comprising the MFG/PRO eB2 suite. These enhancements include:

New lean manufacturing functions to accelerate lead and cycle times for efficient responsiveness to customers;
Collaboration functions to better coordinate fulfillment and invoicing with trading partners;
Service/support management (SSM) improvements for better contract management;
Functions to streamline international financials and profitability analysis; and
Desktop interface changes for greater ease of use and minimal user training.

Working with customer development groups in real-world manufacturing environments, QAD added industry-specific features that benefit manufacturers in the automotive, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, medical devices, industrial products and electronics industries. This collaborative process ensures that MFG/PRO eB2 delivers the business-critical functionality manufacturers need today.

"With MFG/PRO eB2, were pleased to offer the richest functionality ever, in an enterprise application suite designed specifically for todays real-world manufacturing challenges," said Pamela Lopker, QAD president and chairman of the board. "Our customers are the real experts at defining and prioritising the functions and features they need. After 23 years of working with global manufacturers, we still believe that the best way to deliver a solid foundation for collaboration in a fast-changing business environment is to collaborate with your customers in order to deliver the exact functionality they need for their most critical business issues."

According to Gordon Fleming, Managing Director QAD Australia, MFG/PRO eB2 will give the organisation a distinct advantage over its competitors in both the middle and upper tiers of the collaborative application space.

"We have been building a strong following in ANZ for many years, particularly in the food & beverage and industrial sectors. With eB2 we have an advanced e-business product that addresses the requirements of manufacturing organisations which will continue to be delivered with one of the lowest costs of ownership in the industry," Mr Fleming said.

Designed for Collaboration
MFG/PRO eB2 manufacturing, distribution and financial management enterprise applications are built on open, standards-based architecture to maximise interoperability with legacy systems and a variety of enterprise applications. Open Applications Group Integration Specification (OAGIS) messaging standards, Business Object Documents (BODs) and XML enable communication with other applications inside the organisation and outside, with suppliers and customers.

Its open, three-tiered architecture also makes MFG/PRO eB2 flexible and scalable, to accommodate operations of any size in both centralised and distributed environments. This new thin-client solution contributes to reduced cost of ownership by minimising application deployment and management, as well as required user training.

Functional Highlights
Enhancements to MFG/PRO eB2 flagship software include:

Streamlined Financial Functions. Manufacturers can optimise the speed and efficiency of financial administration throughout the supply chain, including processing traditional discrete orders and fulfilling all accounting requirements regardless of geographic location, language or currency, providing the visibility, data sharing and integrity, and streamlined internal processes critical to global operation.
Lean Manufacturing Functions. To introduce "lean manufacturing" practices and promote instantaneous response to customer demand, MFG/PRO eB2 incorporates advanced functionality such as production without work orders, kanban, mixed-mode manufacturing, and flexible flow order scheduling and management. Emphasising fluidity of supply and demand, lean manufacturing creates process efficiencies and minimises inventory, to smooth the way for production upon order confirmation with the fewest possible constraints to delivering the right mix and quantity of products as quickly as possible.
Collaborative Trading Partner Solutions. To help companies balance responsiveness to trading partners with the practicalities of financial administration, QAD added new functions such as consignment inventory, customer reserved locations and enterprise material transfer. QAD continues to leverage J2EE and SOAP that are crucial to collaboration. Companies can effectively coordinate supply and production to meet promised delivery and shipping performance requirements.
CRM Service/Support Functions. MFG/PRO eB2 enhancements support the design of powerful, sophisticated service coverage contracts without adding complexity to data entry and myriad aspects of contract management. Ultimately, these new functions reinforce the longevity and loyalty of customer relationships.

QAD Desktop 2 Interface Enhancements. To ensure employees in multiple locations can easily access and share crucial data and resources without increasing the burden on individual users or IT staff, QAD has created a thin-client application built on Web technology. The browser-friendly interface makes the application intuitive and flexible, to simplify deployment and training so that employees are more productive.
