Announcement posted by AMD 04 Jun 2002

AMD and Digiland to explore new business opportunities in Australian market
AMD today announced the appointment of Digiland, a technology service and supply chain manager, as a new distributor for Australia. Digiland will address new business opportunities for AMD working alongside other AMD distributors Avnet and Legend Performance Technologies. The agreement between AMD and Digiland is effective immediately.
"We are delighted to be appointed as AMD's new distributor," said Digiland's managing director Chin Nam Low. "Digiland is committed to growing its share of the white box market. Being able to offer the acclaimed AMD range of processors will enable us to present a complete offering for this market."
With a presence in all major cities in Australia, Digiland has close to 2,000 active customers locally. AMD processors are the latest addition to its product range, which also includes hard drives, motherboards, CD ROMs and LCD monitors. Digiland will be providing strong support for AMD's recently released processor-in-a-box range.
According to Steven Fraser, regional sales manager, AMD Australia and New Zealand, Digiland's sales model was also a factor in its appointment. "Digiland's direct relationship with system builders will bring AMD a step closer to its end users and keep us in touch with the needs of the market."
"In selecting a new channel partner, Digiland, with its record of new business opportunities for its partners, was the clear leader in terms of its compatibility with AMD's business goals," said John Robinson, country manager, AMD Australia and New Zealand.
