IT buyers achieve high ROI with simple, scalable storage for only US$5/Gigabyte
Snap Appliance, the world leader in network-attached storage (NAS) solutions, continues to deliver on its value proposition of simple, scalable storage with the introduction of higher capacity workgroup NAS systems. The Snap Server 1100, the most widely used NAS device on the market with over 50,000 units in the field, is now available with 160 gigabytes of capacity. The Snap Server 2200, which offers additional reliability and availability features, is now offered with 320 gigabytes of capacity. Information technology buyers can now cost-effectively add storage to smaller networks for under US$5 per gigabyte. Snap Servers provide high performance and capacity for workgroup file sharing, near-line storage, disk-based backup and archival, and remote office applications.
NAS is a cost-effective method for adding file-level storage for departments, workgroups and remote offices, said Brad Nisbet, Sr. Storage Analyst with IDC. Snap Appliance continues to enhance their NAS offerings with higher capacity and better value.
These workgroup NAS systems require minimal administration or support, freeing up IT staff to work on business-critical tasks. The Snap Server 1100 and 2200 install generally in five minutes with no network downtime and automatically recognise and support all major network clients and platforms, including Linux, Windows, NetWare, Macintosh, and UNIX. Both the 1100 and 2200 include SMART disk predictive failure analysis, automatic e-mail notifications in the event of a problem and additional SNMP alerts. For remote offices, the 1100 and 2200 offer remote management and configuration via a web browser. Both systems also include an unlimited user license copy of PowerQuest DataKeeper software for constant backup of Windows desktop and laptop files. These workgroup systems also support Snap Appliances Server-to-Server Synchronization software for automated data replication between Snap Servers.
The Snap Server 2200 offers multiple disk redundancy (RAID) levels, customisable for performance or data protection for customers requiring higher reliability and availability.
