Redcliffe woman leads international cancer fight

'Funraiser' auction day in Wavell Heights

22 OCT---REDCLIFFE woman Beverley Rilatt-Richardson is leading an international fundraising campaign to save her best friend from breast cancer.

Beverley Rilatt-Richardson is the ‘Angel’ behind ‘Mending Maureen’ – a $32,000 international fundraising campaign to fly Aussie environmental scientist Maureen Longmore to Germany’s Arcadia Institute for holistic cancer treatment.

“Maureen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. But after the experience of travelling to Ireland to nurse both her mother and her best friend through the agonising rigours of traditional breast cancer treatment, Maureen decided she could win her battle through alternative regimes, as she had been trained in natural therapies herself” Ms Rilatt-Richardson said.

“But despite her positive attitude and holistic approach, the cancer became aggressive again last year and spread to her bones”.

“Maureen however is very proactive and after continued research, she now wishes to receive treatment at the Arcadia Institute, a world-class centre in the integrated medical treatment of cancer”, Ms Rilatt-Richardson shared.

“After eight years of exhausting her own funds Maureen has found the humility and courage to reach out to her friends for help.”

The cost for 3 weeks of treatment at the clinic, accommodation in nearby Kassel, and follow-up treatment is GBP£16,000.

“Successful treatment could slow down or even stop the spread of cancer in her body. A miracle would be for the cancer to leave her body entirely, however it is Maureen’s hope that she can simply be well enough to write of her journey through natural treatments in order to assist other women with this devastating condition worldwide” Ms Rilatt-Richardson said.

A Funraising event will be held for Maureen, who has a PhD in environmental science, at the Wavell Heights Community Centre on Saturday 25th October 2014, from 1 to 5 pm. There will be an array of interesting raffle prizes available.

Special guest speaker Orthomolecular Clinical Nutritionist Ross Harty, a research scientist for the past 25 years, will headline the event.

Author, naturopath, herbalist and international speaker Hayley Wallace, who has survived three different cancers, will also address the funraiser.

Entertainment will be provided by singer/songwriters, demonstrations in Wu Dao Dancing and Pole Fitness. Entry is only $20 and tickets are available online at:
