Mercury launches Industrys first business process testing software

Announcement posted by Mercury Pty Ltd 28 Sep 2004

New Product Unites Business and Quality Assurance Teams to Optimise Application Results
Today, Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ: MERQ), the global leader in business technology optimisation (BTO), announced Mercury Business Process Testing. Part of Mercury Quality Center, Mercury Business Process Testing is the first application delivery product that was purpose-built to enable business people to validate the quality of automated business processes. This new Mercury software enables business process owners and designers to work in a unified manner with software quality assurance (QA) teams to test the functionality of mission-critical applications.
"Application quality is not an option, it is an imperative, especially during summer when our business peaks, said John Reading, director of Oracle applications development at Graebel Relocation Services Worldwide, Inc., the United States' largest privately-owned relocation company. Mercury Business Process Testing enables our QA and business teams to operate as one, working to ensure that our critical business applications fully support the rapidly changing needs of the business.
Mercury Business Process Testing enables QA teams and business experts to test more functionality in more applications earlier in the development cycle, by employing the right mix of technical skill and business expertise. Mercurys unique component-based approach to test automation and auto-documentation enables customers to dramatically reduce test maintenance and documentation time and costs.
Application testing is a responsibility shared across the entire application quality ecosystem, said Theresa Lanowitz, research director at Gartner, Inc. Accountability for application quality has escalated from the QA engineer to the CIO. CIOs need to unite the efforts of their QA and business experts to ensure that software meets the rapidly changing needs of the business to compete and respond to legislative and compliance pressures.
Mercury Business Process testing is a part of the Mercury Quality Centre suite of software. It is built to work in conjunction with Mercury QuickTest Professional and Mercury WinRunner. Mercury Business Process Testing provides a set of new features and functionality enabling business experts and QA engineers to;
Create business processes tests with simple drag and drop capabilities;
Construct test components and test cases with natural language script-less, keyword-driven testing;
Reduce application delivery time by testing throughout the development cycle with a component-based approach;
Build hundreds of different test cases by reusing and reordering individual test components;
Provide global component access to distributed teams through central test component repository; and
Document tests and correlate results through auto-documentation.
Mercury also announced its partner strategy for Mercury Business Process Testing by working with solution partners to build acceleration kits for leading ERP and CRM vendors such as Oracle, SAP, Siebel and PeopleSoft. Mercury Business Process Testing Accelerator for Oracle Applications 11i is available, providing Oracle customers with the ability to test patches, upgrades and new implementations.
Mercurys Business Process Testing is a game-changing product, said Alan Fletcher, vice president of Oracle applications engineering. We believe our mutual customers will use Mercury Business Process Testing to easily and cost effectively expand and maintain quality automation coverage of Oracle 11i rollouts, upgrades and on-going maintenance.
Having Mercury Business Process Testing Accelerator for Oracle Applications 11i is like having an extra team of developers dedicated to the testing team, which saves time and money from a personnel management perspective and speeds time to deployment for our applications, continued Reading from Graebel.
For more than 15 years, Mercury has helped thousands of customers optimise application quality and performance. Gartner ranks Mercury as the market leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed Testing. According to IDC, Mercury is the undisputed leader in application delivery with more than 55 per cent market share, more than double its nearest competitor.
