TrakCare Unified Healthcare Information System to Be Used by Over 11,000 Clinicians and Other Staff Across Four City of Health Hospitals

SYDNEY, Australia – November 13, 2014 – InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected healthcare, and the City of Health and Science University Hospital of Turin have signed an agreement to deploy the InterSystems TrakCare® unified health information system to enhance and integrate patient care across the four City of Health and Science hospitals: Molinette, Sant’Anna Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital, and Maria Adelaide Orthopaedic and Trauma Centre.

The project will be implemented in a phased approach over a 30-month period across the entire City of Health and Science hospital network, resulting in a single Internet-based healthcare information system based on the Italian Edition of TrakCare. The consolidation of information and processes relating to patients and medical equipment will both enhance the quality of patient care and streamline healthcare delivery, improving overall efficiency.

Gian Paolo Zanetta, General Director of City of Health and Science University Hospital of Turin, said,“This initiative is crucial to the technological and organisational integration of the City of Health and Science and its four hospitals, and it will be a model for the whole Piedmont region. Strategic Management will personally oversee the project to ensure that results are achieved in the rapid time frame that was agreed upon. Within six months, for example, the entire hospital system will share a unified patient record and a single system for emergency care management and other urgent cases.”

Cesare Guidorzi, Country Manager for Italy, InterSystems, commented, “We are very proud that the City of Health and Science of Turin, one of the most important health networks in Italy, has chosen InterSystems for this important transformation project. The unified healthcare system will be used by more than 11,000 users, most of them clinicians, with significant benefits to patients in terms of improved effectiveness and efficiency in healthcare delivery.”
