Available soon on the App Store for free and set to rival Instagram, Pical offers users an extra dimension to communicating through images. The app combines photography, music and social networking by allowing the user to tag a song to their uploaded image then share with the rest of the world.

There is also a ‘Have Your Say’ section where users can browse images from other Pical users and suggest a song they think best depicts that image. “It’s about interpreting images through music and perhaps in a whole different light. One person may interpret an image in a completely different way to another, challenging previous interpretations” says Holly Corns, creator of Pical.

“We are moving beyond simply liking or commenting on a photo. We wanted to create a community where opinions are not only valued but are broadening horizons, challenging traditional ideologies and ultimately opening up another world the user didn’t even know existed” says Corns.

Pical Developer, Ged Gaskell couldn’t agree more; “People are bored with current social media platforms. I think we’re ready to move beyond Instagram. Pical is a world where it’s not just about the image anymore, it’s about adding an extra dimension to that image, to that memory- it’s about looking at the image in a whole different light through music” says Gaskell.

By joining Pical, you are also creating your own personal memory box. Users are able to relive those special moments in life and listen to the song that was tagged to the photo at the time it was taken or uploaded.

“I had a wonderful moment in Spain last year where I was sitting on the beach watching the sun rise- I was singing to myself ‘Sunrise, sunrise’ (a favourite song of mine by Norah Jones) as I sat there feeling very content, I wanted to capture the moment, so I took a photo of the sun over the horizon- but that wasn’t enough. I wanted to tag the song I was singing to the image so that when I looked back at the photo I would hear the song again and my memory of that moment would be enhanced” says Corns.

Everything is open to interpretation – express yourself, give meaning, join Pical.
