Bank goes above and beyond to support the Women’s and Children’s Hospital

Announcement posted by Beyond Bank Australia 25 Feb 2015

24 February 2015
South Australian-based, customer-owned Beyond Bank Australia this week launches its newest community partnership in SA - the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation’s TeamKids Beyond Bank Easter Appeal.

The two year partnership has a multi-faceted approach to supporting the TeamKids Appeal drive fundraising, the centrepiece of which is the first live broadcast telethon in 30 years from the Channel Nine Adelaide Studios on Easter Monday, 6 April.

The telethon will combine local and national celebrities in a broadcast stretching from 10.30am to 5pm and will be screened on the WIN Network in south-eastern SA and to the Spencer Gulf and Broken Hill via the Southern Cross Austereo Network.

All funds raised will help the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) Foundation purchase much-needed medical equipment and upgrading facilities to improve the hospital experience for children and their families.

Beyond Bank Australia Chief Executive Officer Robert Keogh said the WCH Foundation partnership was significant for the positive community outcomes it will deliver, and is being supported by the bank’s charitable arm, the Beyond Bank Foundation.

“Strengthening the fabric of the communities in which we operate is one of our core business values, so we have a longstanding track record in supporting a range of community and charitable groups who deliver a tangible difference to our day to day lives,” Mr Keogh said.

“The Women’s and Children’s Hospital forms the very core of family healthcare and medical treatment in South Australia. You would be hard-pressed to find a family in SA that had not walked through those doors in North Adelaide for either the birth of a child, for emergency medical treatment or for treatment for more serious illnesses.

“The standard of care the hospital delivers is second to none and we are proud, through our connection with the Easter Appeal, to support the continued improvement of services and facilities to benefit South Australian families.“

WCH Foundation CEO Sam Tolley said the TeamKids Beyond Bank Easter Appeal would not only rally support for a cause close to the heart of many South Australians, it will provide a window into the daily life of the hospital, featuring stories about courageous families and the extraordinary staff who care for them through their often difficult health battles.

“The TeamKids Beyond Bank Easter Appeal will considerably boost our financial support for the WCH, which has totalled more than $30 million over the past 9 years to fund leading technology, vital equipment, family-centred facilities and support services and research,” Mr Tolley said.

“We are pleased and proud to partner with another community-minded organisation such as Beyond Bank Australia to stage this appeal and support the Foundation’s work.”

Beyond Bank has invested more than $10 million in our community partnerships and programs since 2007 across SA, WA, the ACT, Wagga Wagga and the Hunter Valley where Beyond Bank operates.

Beyond Bank’s support of this partnership extends to assisting with a variety of fundraising measures outside of the appeal day in April, including having the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation as a recipient organisation for our unique Community Reward Savings Account. This account provides a high rate of interest for depositors with Beyond Bank paying a bonus to nominated community organisations based on a percentage of account balances.

In SA, Beyond Bank has worked with a number of highly valued local community organisations including Volunteering SA/NT, Guide Dogs SA/NT, Junction Australia, Greening Australia, Operation Flinders, RDNS and Camp Quality.
