ZUUSE 3D BIM SOFTWARE
BRIDGES THE TECHNOLOGY GAP FOR SYDNEY LANDMARK

SYDNEY, Australia (17th March 2015) —   Zuuse, a 3D BIM technology provider for the Facilities Management (FM) sector, announced today that it has successfully launched its software with the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA) for the operation and management of the Pyrmont Bridge.

In a bid to more effectively and efficiently manage the inspection, maintenance and remedial work of the 7,500+ structural components that make up the Pyrmont Bridge, the SHFA sought an intelligent software solution to replace the previously manual, paper-based processes for NSW Road and Maritime Services (RMS) bridge inspectors. RMS are responsible for maintaining over 5,000 bridge assets in NSW.

“It was evident that we needed a better way to collect, analyse and report on critical data that comes from the regular condition assessments of the bridge,” said Wayne Sahlman, Senior Facilities Supervisor at SHFA.

“The ability to collect inspection data and photos digitally on iPads, automatically link that data back to the 3D model and instantaneously report was of the utmost importance. Zuuse was able to deliver a cloud-based, mobile software solution that will provide us with significant ongoing business benefits,” Sahlman added.

Pivotal to the project was Zuuse’s mobile app – Zuuse Capture – which enhances Zuuse’s already proven technology solution that enables 3D models and all associated information to be utilised through the entire FM phase.

“This project has been extremely exciting for the entire team here at Zuuse. We’ve invested significant innovation in Zuuse Capture and we expect it to have a positive impact on the efficiency and productivity of inspecting and maintaining the Pyrmont Bridge, not only in the immediate future but for the life of the asset,” said CEO of Zuuse, Jason Lilienstein.

“Our priority is to bring intelligence, via technology, to asset managers to facilitate better operational, tactical and strategic decisions across the entire organisation. We’ve managed to achieve this for the Pyrmont Bridge by working with SHFA, blending everyday core functionality with 3D, iPads and open source IFC files, which we believe is an industry first for BIM in FM,” Lilienstein added.

The Pyrmont Bridge is one of the world's oldest electrically operated swingspan bridges, traversing Darling Harbour, Sydney. The heritage listed ironbark and steel bridge was opened in 1902 and has been a major Sydney landmark ever since, with more than 5 million pedestrians crossing the bridge each year.
