Click2learn appoints Grant Smuts to head new Australian operation

Click2learn Inc. (NASDAQ: CLKS) has appointed Grant Smuts to the newly created position of vice president, Asia Pacific, based in Sydney.
Grant Smuts has returned to Australia to take on the role after two years in the UK where he served as managing director for content-syndicator YourNews. Prior to YourNews, he held the position of new media business development manager for News Internationals digital arm in London.
Before this he was a strategy consultant for Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) in Sydney and he worked in corporate law at Malleson Stephen Jacques in Brisbane.
Grants entrepreneurial approach to management, and his experience in commercial law, strategy consulting and new media, will be tremendous assets to Click2learn as we deliver our enterprise learning platform, Aspen, to the rapidly growing markets in Australia and the greater Asia Pacific region, said Kevin Oakes, CEO, Click2learn Inc.
A key role for Grant will be to help Australian businesses better understand how to leverage learning technology to develop, manage and exploit intellectual capital. In the modern enterprise, e-Learning and knowledge management are key to long-term success, he said.
When implemented successfully, e-Learning programs improve sales and employee productivity, generating greater loyalty from staff and customers. By blending e-Learning courses and performance support modules with existing instructor-led training programs, companies gain greater control over the development and use of intellectual capital, Kevin Oakes said.
Grant Smuts is a qualified solicitor and holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University in Queensland.
