BluePoint appointed as PROGNOSIS distributor by Integrated Research

Announcement posted by Integrated Research 09 Oct 2002

Enterprise systems management specialist BluePoint Business Services has been appointed as an official Integrated Research (IR) distributor for South Africa by the Australian-based systems management software developer.

BluePoint has been tasked with establishing IRs PROGNOSIS systems management products for the Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems in the South African market. It will also be launching IRs real-time management tool for Cisco CallManager, PROGNOSIS IP Telephony Manager, in South Africas growing IP telephony market.

Our objectives have always been to design and build solutions that provide real business benefit and return on investment, and to align IT and management processes with business objectives, says BluePoint director Pierre Delport, who co-founded the company in 2001.

Since then BluePoint has built its reputation as a leader in systems management technology and consulting through successful engagements with some of South Africas top corporates across all vertical industries. The company has extensive experience in enterprise systems management (ESM), CRM, operating systems, networks and related hardware and software, with major accounts in South Africa, the Middle East and the UK.

South African companies are cutting back on IT spend and looking at technology investments over five or six years to deliver measurable ROI and business benefits, says Delport, and generally speaking expensive and cumbersome products such as enterprise frameworks and disparate point products that only offer pieces of the systems management puzzle arent delivering on this requisite.

The South African customer base is very mature, and understands the need for products that can show real ROI and a low TCO over their life-cycle, he adds. PROGNOSIS impressed us more than anything as an affordable, robust product that because of its proven architecture, predictable pricing structure and first-class technical backup delivers on value and features out the box.

Nick Kay, Technical Director and co-founder, adds: Prognosis' ability to provide equivalent, and in many cases superior, functionality to large enterprise frameworks with a single installed footprint, really impressed us. The fact that it can be implemented in a matter of weeks, not months or years makes it a product ideally suited to the South African market.

PROGNOSIS is an integrated family of real-time systems and application management products that optimises the performance and availability of Windows, UNIX, Linux and HP NonStop environments. Built on a fault-tolerant, distributed architecture, PROGNOSIS manages servers, desktops, applications and databases from any point on the network, giving administrators a single view on their cross-platform environments.

IR president and CEO Steve Killelea welcomes BluePoint as a member of IRs global family of distributors, and considers South Africa an important region for growing the companys installed base of cross-platform products.

BluePoint is not only a leader in systems management implementations in South Africa, but has also proven itself an ambitious, professional partner, says Killelea.

In our last financial year we recorded 216 per cent growth in our cross-platform product line globally, and we are committed to providing the sales, marketing and technical resources and support our partners need to make similar gains in the year ahead.

Initiatives are underway to take our combined product offerings to market, to help add significant value for our customers and to build and sustain their competitive advantage in a challenging world economy, he concludes.
