Hagemeyer Communications announces the availability of the NMS Communications AG 4040 Series Interface Boards

Announcement posted by Hagemeyer Communications 17 Mar 2004

AG 4040 - the ideal foundation for conferencing and speech applications
Hagemeyer Communications, the telecommunications business unit of business-to-business (B2B) distribution services group Hagemeyer NV, in conjunction with NMS Communications (Nasdaq: NMSS), the trusted supplier of communications products and services, today announced the release of the AG 4040 Series Interface Boards which is part of the Open Access framework for next-generation voice, video and data services.
The AG 4040 offers a new level of flexibility while reducing total lifecycle costs. This will offer greatest benefits to application developers, OEMs, their telecom operators and enterprise customers. The AG 4040 delivers increased processing power and more efficient power management. The AG 4040 is available in either PCI or CompactPCI form factors, and satisfies both rich media processing and digital PSTN interface needs for a wide range of voice and signalling applications.
The AG 4040 Series is part of the Open Access family of analogue and digital hardware for use in the development of systems that require call and media processing, fax, switching, and the integration of telephone systems and computer or database systems. With software-configurable T1 or E1 trunk assignments and field-selectable impedance, the AG 4040 eliminates the need to stock separate boards for separate configurations and helps reduce total cost of ownership.
The AG 4040 also offers "drop-in" replacement for AG 4000 boards, but draws under 25 watts of power even at maximum DSP configuration to better manage power consumption and heat dissipation. The AG 4040 is the ideal platform for conferencing and speech recognition applications.
Gerry Forsythe, Product Manager Enterprise and Carrier solutions Hagemeyer Communications, said: The NMS AG 4040 has been designed to replace the current AG4000 series of boards. Over the past four years the AG 4000 has been successfully used by developers, enterprise customers and telecommunications companies worldwide for any number of applications ranging from Call Centre IVR applications, Audio Conferencing to complex Speech Recognition applications. The AG 4040 is a more powerful drop-in replacement and enhances what customers and developers are currently used to.
EPOS, a technology provider of speech-enabled 24/7 self-service for telephone, Internet, wireless technology and kiosk, is one of the first customers to employ the AG 4040.
"EPOS chose NMS Communications' AG 4040 for its scalability, worldwide protocol support, and extensibility," said Fred Byrd, CTO and Executive Vice President, EPOS. "Because the AG 4040 enables the selection of telephony trunks via software, we have seen tremendous cost and inventory savings. And we can be sure that we continue to get the best-in-class voice and call processing for the cost-effective deployment of our IVR solution."
Another user of the AG 4040 is Collabo Technology K.K., developer of CollaboBase, the only integrated multi-stage collaboration tool in Japan enabling communication and collaboration among companies in any situation.
Collabo CEO Tetsunosuke Fujisaki said: "Conferencing is at the core of collaboration and with the Open Access AG 4040 we have a scalable and reliable engine for the CollaboBase product. With the enterprise market as our primary target, the AG 4040 gives us a clear advantage in terms of flexibility and price-performance."
