Teknowledge Starts Work On WatchKit App Projects

Following the official invitation from Apple Inc. to third-party mobile app developers to submit WatchKit applications, Teknowledge Mobile Studio - a Kolkata-based multinational app company - has started accepting Watch app projects. Pre-ordering of Apple Watch starts from the day after tomorrow, and the company is aiming to get 8-10 Watch apps approved at the store, before the smartwatch hits the market on April 24.
It has been a conscious decision to slightly delay the process of creating apps for Apple Watch at Teknowledge, according to company insiders. CEO Hussain Fakhruddin has been, over the last three months, conducting extensive training sessions at the company - to familiarize his team of developers with the nitty-gritty of WatchKit development. The tool was released by Apple way back in November, and it is only from last week that Teknowledge Software has started providing free app quotes to clients for Watch apps.
During an exclusive interview this Sunday, Mr. Fakhruddin explained the importance of including the WatchKit platform under the domain of services of his mobile app company. Since the start of 2015, most clients planning to create an iPhone app had been inquiring whether a version customized for Apple Watch would also be possible. Since trainings were on at that time, such requests were not entertained then. At present though, Mr. Fakhruddin feels that his app developers and graphic designers have the expertise and knowhow to take on, and complete, WatchKit app projects properly.
The discussion with the CEO of Teknowledge Mobile Studio also highlighted the long way this mobile app development company has come since its humble inception. In 2006, they had started out in a small office space, with a small team, and were only making Java apps. A couple of years later, iOS app development started in full swing at the agency. After another year or so, a separate team of Android app developers were recruited, and work started on Google’s mobile platform. The app company has excelled in terms of quality and customer-satisfaction over the years, and Mr. Fakhruddin expressed confidence about being successful in making high-quality, user-friendly WatchKit apps too.
When inquired about the app development training sessions that are still being organized at Teknowledge on a weekly basis, Mr. Fakhruddin mentioned that they were aimed at providing the developers with the necessary knowledge. The recently released app submission guidelines by Apple have been extensively deliberated upon, and every iOS app developer have been given two dummy WatchKit projects (one for the 38mm model, the other for the 42mm model). A recent joinee at the renowned app development agency also coded a ‘Hello World’ WatchKit app during the interview. If the confidence and expertise of the developer is anything to go by, Teknowledge has indeed trained its staff well.
Adopting new technologies and giving app developers/designers the chance to work with the latest smart gadgets has been a way of life at Teknowledge. The company upgraded all its iMac systems at office to OS X Yosemite, within a week of the latter’s release. All but one of the iPhones are upgraded to the iOS 8 platform - and Mr. Fakhruddin took it on himself to buy the new iPhone 6 in January. So, when shall Apple Watch make its debut at Teknowledge? The workaholic mobile app entrepreneur rued that India was not among the 9 countries where Watch was going to be launched in the first round - and promised he would get a Sport Edition as soon as it became available over here. In the meantime, WatchKit apps will be developed by Teknowledge in collaboration with its Australian chapter (Teks Mobile Australia), which would have access to the eagerly-anticipated smartwatch.
Given the way in which Teknowledge has gone from strength to strength in its capacity as a cross-platform mobile app developer (primarily iOS and Android, with BlackBerry and Windows being accorded secondary status), it would be surprising if it does not succeed at WatchKit app development too. Mr. Fakhruddin signed off by saying that it would be a new challenge for his team - a challenge that everyone was looking forward to.
There is a mad rush among mobile app companies worldwide to submit apps for Apple Watch before their competitors. Teknowledge Software has also joined the bandwagon, and only time will tell if it manages to make its Watch apps stand out from those churned out by other companies.
