Tasmania’s Shaping Change Celebrates Two Business Accolades

Announcement posted by Strawberry Communications 27 Apr 2015

Produce from Tasmania’s fertile soil is often highlighted as the state’s top export, however Hobart organisational development business Shaping Change shows the island’s small businesses also have a claim to that title.

Shaping Change was recently named a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards (Professional Services) and founder Ros Cardinal’s business story has been featured in a book for entrepreneurs by Mithra Publishing.

Ms Cardinal flew to Sydney last week for the Small Business Champion Awards as one of two Tasmanian finalists (the other was @Home Property Management, Launceston). The Professional Services award went to NSW Central Coast finance business Astute Ability Group, however Ms Cardinal was thrilled with the recognition Shaping Change received as a finalist amongst national business peers.

“My colleagues and I spend our time finding and implementing the right solutions to help our clients build the best organisations they can, and it was a thrill to have that work recognised on a national stage amongst so many other talented entrepreneurs,” Ms Cardinal said.

“It was such an honour to be a finalist and it was a great night,” she said.

In speaking about the value of the Small Business Champion Awards, Federal Small Business minister Bruce Billson said businesses like Shaping Change were the engine room of the Australian economy.

“I know that creating and growing a small business takes relentless hard work, an inordinate amount of dedication and great passion. Those of you who are working to support prosperity in your communities should rightly be congratulated,” Mr Billson said.

Author Kizzi Nkwocha featured Ms Cardinal’s entrepreneurial story alongside 19 other successful business people in the new book Australian Entrepreneur, which Mr Nkwocha said provided an “inspiring, thought-provoking insight” into what goes on behind the scenes in some of Australia’s SMEs.

Australian Entrepreneur can be purchased from the Mithra Publishing website: mithrapublishing.com.

Ms Cardinal is also an international business writer, and writes for Huffington Post, Leaders in Heels and People Development magazine.
