Aurecon celebrates Australia’s built environment future recognised at 2015 PCA/RLB awards

Overcoming a tenacious field showcasing 99 of Australia’s most eminent and innovative property developments, four projects that Aurecon has proudly contributed to won national awards at the Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards, Friday 1 May 2015.

The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment, Brisbane City Hall Restoration, Perth Arena and Liberty Place each reigned supreme in variety of competitive fields spanning leisure and tourism, heritage, public and voter-selected developments.

The national award winners are as follows:

The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment, South Australia, won the Brain & Poulter Award for Best Tourism and Leisure Development. The project was nominated by Lend Lease and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. The owner is the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

Aurecon contributed electrical, fire and hydraulic infrastructure; communications and outside broadcast infrastructure; specialist lighting, and vertical transportation expertise. Aurecon also provided support in the delivery of new mechanical central plant and air-conditioning throughout the many corporate and public facilities.

The Brisbane City Hall Restoration, Queensland, won the S4B Studio Award for Best Heritage Development. The project was nominated by Thinc. The owner is Brisbane City Council. Aurecon contributed structural, civil, traffic, geotechnical and vibration services.

Perth Arena, Western Australia, won the Woods Bagot Award for Best Public Building. The project was nominated by WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff. The owner is VenuesWest. Aurecon contributed structural, façade, vertical transport, roof mechanisms and fire safety expertise to the project.

Sydney’s Liberty Place, New South Wales, was the recipient of People’s Choice Award. The project was nominated by Grocon. The owners are GPT Wholesale Office Fund, LaSalle Asia, Opportunity Fund III and ISPT Core Fund. Aurecon contributed structural engineering services to the project.
