Renewable Power And Energy In The Spotlight At Power Qatar Summit

Announcement posted by Expotrade 02 Jun 2015

Doha, Qatar, 02, June 2015: The inaugural edition of the Power Qatar Summit, incorporating the successful Solar Qatar Summit is Qatar’s only power generation, transmission and distribution event taking place in Doha on 26-27 October 2015. Held under the patronage of KAHRAMAA and produced by global conference organizers, Expotrade, the summit will be hosted at the Ritz-Carlton, Doha. The summit will showcase the latest technology in renewable power and energy solutions worldwide and highlight the way forward for power generation in Qatar.

Qatar’s position among the world’s largest producers of natural gas makes it a logical choice for a summit that will bring together the world’s leading experts in the power industry and the government officials. The two day summit will offer insights into the tremendous potential in Qatar for power generation, distribution and transmission.

One of the engines powering Qatar’s grand 2030 vision forward is power generation in all forms, especially solar, natural gas and renewable energy. The increasing demands of a growing population have led to a tremendous demand for power, with rising consumption rates in a very short span of time.  The logical solution is renewable energy. But this has to be supported with the right infrastructure, technology and solutions, viewed against the overarching element of sustainability. Qatar’s power and energy needs are further heightened by Qatar’s prominence on the world stage as a key Gulf country. This prominence is all set to increase with the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 setting the world’s attention squarely on Qatar. The stage is, therefore, set for Qatar to become a hub for power generation and distribution developments in the region. The commissioning of the USD 4 billion Ras Qartas Energy Plant, the biggest power generation plant in the country and region is a good indicator of the way things are headed in Qatar. This, however, is merely the tip of the iceberg.

At this juncture, the Power Qatar Summit 2015, by virtue of being the only power generation, transmission and distribution event is ideally placed to offer the best platform to showcase the opportunities on offer, alongside the technology and solutions to power Qatar’s future growth.

Power Qatar Summit will feature speakers and panelists who will discuss topics pertaining to Intelligent Power systems, Water Desalination powered by Solar Energy, HVDC technology, Solar Energy Cooling Technologies for FIFA World Cup stadiums and Power Distribution with Intelligent Transformer Substations, to name a few.  Some of the confirmed industry experts include Dr. Mohammad Khaleel, Executive Director, Qatar Foundation, Dr. Amer Al Shamary Al Adhadh, Economic Development Advisor, Ministry of Economy and Commerce; Dr. Abdelkader Bousselham, Scientist, Grid Integration, QEERI; Dr. Ilias Belharouak, Chief Scientist, Energy Storage, QEERI; Rutu Dave, Energy Specialist, World Bank; Mohamed Nagib Omara, Technical Advisor to the President, Kahramaa.
