Key IT representatives visit Starlight Express Room
NSW Minister for Information Technology, Kim Yeadon, has today announced government support for 'Putting IT Back', the national IT Fund for Kids fundraising initiative backed by Australia's IT&T community.
Mr Yeadon congratulated all 30 companies participating in 'Putting IT Back' 2002 which runs throughout the month of October. Pledging their support, key representatives from participating IT companies will visit the Starlight Express Room at the Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick this week. This will give each representative the opportunity to witness the great work of the Starlight Children's Foundation, which, with Giant Steps, benefits from the funds raised by 'Putting IT Back'.
"It's great to see the IT industry giving back to the community by helping children," Mr Yeadon said. "I congratulate all of the IT companies involved in this project."
While support from the IT&T community for 'Putting IT Back' 2002 has been great, there is still room for more companies to jump on board. Participation kits can be downloaded from www.itfundforkids.com <http://www.itfundforkids.com>. Employees of IT companies simply donate a day's pay or a nominated amount to the fund throughout the month of October, to raise funds for the Starlight Children's Foundation and Giant Steps. The goal for this year is to raise $350,000 and help in excess of 85 children nationally.
Companies that have signed up to participate in the fund for 2002 are: AIIA, Alcatel, Business Objects, Check Point Software Technologies Australia, Cisco Systems, Citrix, Cognos Pty Ltd, Concord Communications, CSC, Dimension Data, Express Data, Verisign, EMC, Gartner Australasia, Howorth Communications, IBM, IDC, Intel Australia Pty Ltd, Intergraph Corporation, McCorkell and Associates, Microsoft Australia, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel Networks, Novell Pty Ltd, Oracle Corporation, Powerlan, Technology Venture Partners, Telstra On Air and Volante Group.
