Launceston Screening of Overfed & Undernourished for Breast Cancer Research

Announcement posted by Strawberry Communications 11 Jun 2015

Two Launceston residents are bringing groundbreaking film Overfed & Undernourished to town as a fundraising event for NBCF (National Breast Cancer Foundation) on June 22.

Overfed & Undernourished follows overweight boy Liam as he works with his aunt and uncle (executive producers and Queensland chiropractors Anthony and Kate Golle) to turn his health around and regain his zest for life after family tragedy.

Juice Plus co-owner Celine Egan, from Blackstone Heights, is hosting the film screening to help Trevallyn resident Johanna Baker-Dowdell and her friend Annalisa Holmes reach their fundraising goal for Trek Towards a Cure in Peru this November.

The 12-day trek to Machu Picchu is a fundraiser for NCBF to help it reach its goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Celine urged Launceston families to see Overfed & Undernourished because it had such an important message.

“We are raising a generation of children who have a shorter life expectancy than their parents. What are we going to do about that?” Celine asked.

“This documentary follows the journey of one young lad, Liam, as he is mentored and guided in making changes implemented by his aunt and uncle. Anthony and Kate will join us for an online chat after the film to share their experiences and answer questions from the audience,” she said.

Johanna said Overfed & Undernourished fitted her fundraising aim perfectly because the trek is about healthy lifestyle and funding breast cancer research.

“I’m so grateful to Celine for hosting this event for us. Annalisa had a double mastectomy a few years ago after an almost 30-year battle with breast cancer. She is an incredibly powerful and inspiring woman and now works at the NBCF in Sydney,” Johanna explained.

“I am joining Annalisa on this trip to Peru as her supporter and fellow participant, but also to raise awareness and funds for research into a disease that touches so many of us,” she said.

Overfed & Undernourished will be screened from 7pm on Monday, June 22, at Tailrace Centre, Riverside.

Tickets are $25 per person or $220 for a group of 10. There are also tickets for children and families. Each ticket includes the film, a raffle ticket and all fees. Book at: trektowardsacuremovienight.eventbrite.com.au
