Announcement posted by Summit New Homes 19 Jun 2015
You may have heard about the Summit Homes superwall by now. A product innovation finalist in the 2014 HIA Awards, superwall is revolutionising the building industry by setting new standards in Perth new homes.
The response has been so positive that superwall is now included as a standard feature in all Summit display homes.
So what exactly is superwall? And how is it improving new home designs in Perth?
We ask Design Manager of Summit Homes, Peter Wilkinson, how new home buyers can expect to benefit from superwall.
What is superwall?
Superwall is a unique form of double-brick construction that uses drywall lining instead of wet plaster, giving your internal walls a supremely-sleek surface and straight edges.
The installation is clean, fast and efficient, which helps make the building process for new homes run even more seamlessly.
What the finish is like?
Superwall produces a laser level straight finish - it’s that smooth and precise. New home buyers can expect cleaner, pronounced edges and corners. It’s perfection really – you can’t even see the joins where the boards come together.
Does superwall stand up long term?
Definitely. Superwall is made from the same material as the cornice and ceiling, and has shown to exhibit a significant reduction in wall cracking caused by settling of new homes. And if it gets damaged somehow, superwall is even easier to repair than wet wall plaster.
What about superwall’s acoustic and thermal performance?
Reports from tests and homeowners suggest superwall is much quieter than wet wall plaster due to the small cavity created and the double brick construction. It’s also been observed as cooler in summer and warmer in winter, which is great for reducing energy bills.
You’ve said superwall is efficient and clean – what does this mean for homebuyers?
Superwall leads to cleaner construction sites with no spilt plaster or residual mess on the floor, meaning new home buyers can expect quicker build timeframes so the home reaches lock-up faster. That’s great peace-of-mind knowing your new home will be safe from the risk of trespassers and vandalism sooner.
And is it environmentally friendly?
Yes it is - superwall has less impact on landfill. What’s more, any superwall offcuts can be recycled by Boral into new plasterboard or even used as a gypsum-based soil conditioner.
