ACCPAC Extends Linux Support To The Desktop

Announcement posted by ACCPAC 21 Aug 2002

Responds to Demand for Pure Linux Business Applications
ACCPAC International, Inc., the accounting and eBusiness software subsidiary of Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA), has announced at its "Partnership 2002" conference in Las Vegas the release of ACCPAC Advantage SeriesT for the Linux desktop. This makes it the mid-market's first accounting application to support deployment on both Linux servers and Linux desktops.

"Linux continues to gain acceptance within the small and medium size business community, offering our customers a high-performance environment for business applications at a low cost," said ACCPAC's senior vice president, Australia/Pacific: Daithi Holden. "Now, our Advantage Series customers can take full advantage of Linux-at the server level and on the desktop."

Linux use at the desktop is growing rapidly, according to IDC (Source: IDC Bulletin - Worldwide Linux Operating Environment Forecast, 2002-2006: Client Shipments Pick Up Pace). IDC cites growth in use of the Linux client in 2001 at 107%, more than four times the growth of the previous year. IDC further projects continued growth of the Linux client at a compounded annual rate of 30.1% through 2006.

ACCPAC Advantage Series is an advanced, Web-based accounting solution built on an object-oriented, multi-tiered architecture that enables ACCPAC to quickly integrate new market-demanded technologies. Advantage Series is highly customisable, designed to scale as a company grows, and is the foundation of an integrated set of end-to-end business management applications including CRM, e-commerce, human resources and warehouse management.

The growing use of Linux on the desktop, coupled with the availability of ACCPAC accounting applications, provides mid-market clients with a non-Microsoft choice and the potential for significantly reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) in managing their accounting systems.

ACCPAC Advantage Series for Linux is available immediately through ACCPAC Solution Providers. For more information or to locate an ACCPAC Solution Provider, call 1800 222 799(Australia) or 0800 904 409 (New Zealand) or visit www.accpac.com
