Announcement posted by MIP 16 Aug 2002

Latest bulletin also gives Informatica high marks for evolving companys focus to new promising business analytics opportunities
Informatica Corporation, the leading provider of business analytics software, today announced that it has been named the top vendor in the global data integration market in a bulletin from leading industry analyst IDC. (Informatica products are distributed in Australia by Management Information Principles MIP.)

The recent bulletin, Worldwide Data Distribution, Migration and Repurposing Software Forecast and Analysis, 2002-2006, ranks Informatica as the leading vendor in the data integration space for the second consecutive year.

For the second year, Informatica is the leading vendor in the IDC Data Distribution, Migration and Repurposing (DDMR) market, in addition to being the number-one ETML vendor, said the IDC report. Over the past year, Informatica has been evolving from a back-end ETML solution to include business analytics on the front end that, along with other Informatica solutions, are changing the focus of the company to promising business analytics opportunities.

The IDC bulletin examines the data distribution, migration and repurposing market, and leading vendor performance and profits for 2001 through 2006. The document also identifies the characteristics that vendors will need to be successful in the future.

Experts agree that the most challenging aspect to effective analytics is collecting and integrating data from across the enterprise, said Gaurav Dhillon, president and CEO of Informatica. We are pleased that IDC continues to recognise Informatica as the top vendor providing this critical technology to companies looking to optimise their business performance.

Informatica provides industry-leading software platforms and tools for developing, managing and maintaining data warehouses, data marts, operational data stores and other analytic environments. Over 70 percent of Fortune 100 companies currently rely on Informatica data integration software as the foundation of their business analytics.

IDC is the world's leading provider of technology intelligence, industry analysis, market data, and strategic and tactical guidance to builders, providers, and users of information technology.
