Announcement posted by Barkly Regional Arts 17 Jul 2015
Celebrating its 26th year, the Desert Harmony Festival is presented by Barkly Regional Arts in beautiful Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. The festival runs from 31st to 5th August 2015 and delivers a diversity of artistic and cultural programs, celebrating the Barkly region’s unique Indigenous and multicultural demographic.
This year, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has come on board as Major Supporters and the theme is to reflect key disability messages. The Desert Harmony Festival will be a great opportunity to reach out to the community about how the NDIS can support people with disability in the Barkly region in the Northern Territory.
The Desert Harmony Festival successfully introduced live streaming in 2012, and will be broadcasting a few key events to a global audience again this year on our website to allow communities who do not have direct access to the Festival remotely to tune in from the comfort of their own home. This is an opportunity for local artists in the community to showcase their arts practice in the wider community.
Barkly Regional Arts will partner with TiLT Vision in streaming live content online. The Media Mob crew is a group of Indigenous youth training in digital media who are also be onboard to help the team. The webcast will cover The Footy Show presented by the Stronger Sisters, one of the biggest nights of the festival and BAMFestwhere talented musicians from all over the Barkly take to the stage, the AFL Grand Final Match. Check out our program on our website www.desertharmonyfestival.com and remember to tune in online! The line-up for 2015 is nothing short of spectacular and audiences will be treated to a diverse range of cultural and contemporary events and workshops.
