SYDNEY, Australia (14th August 2015) — BuildingSMART Australasia, the industry-led international body for the building and construction industry, is bringing a series of seminars entitled: BIM & Asset Management to Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney throughout the month of August.

Featuring Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s senior facilities supervisor, Wayne Sahlman, the events are focused on the value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for asset management and will include a presentation on the recent implementation of Zuuse 3D BIM technology for an iconic Sydney landmark: The Pyrmont Bridge.

“There is real potential for BIM to better manage existing buildings. This is the future of facilities management, it’s where it’s all going. We like to think we’re ahead of the game,” said Sahlman.

With BIM fast becoming the holy grail in facilities management and as asset owners are under increasing pressure to maximise their facility budgets and prolong the life of their assets, the industry is in need of greater transparency and knowledge sharing of successful cases of BIM implementation.

“BuildingSMART Australasia recognises that promoting real world implementation is critical for the industry. Sharing key learnings amongst peers, whether it’s private or public sector, will help drive the uptake of BIM in this country,” said BuildingSMART Australasia’s Chair, John Mitchell.

Each event will run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on the following dates:

·         Melbourne – Tuesday, 18th August 2015

·         Brisbane – Wednesday, 19th August 2015

·         Adelaide – Wednesday, 26th August 2015

·         Sydney – Thursday, 27th August 2015

A supporting presentation will take place in each state with speakers from Zuuse, CIMIC Group, PDC Group, Aurecon and the Department of Defence. Places are limited in each location and tickets are $55 each ($45 for BuildingSMART Members). Book online at http://buildingsmart.org.au/events/
