GenerationE technologies rolls out enterprise-class suite for end-to-end fault and service-level management
Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of ultra-scalable, realtime business and service assurance software, and generationE Technologies, a premier provider of integrated network and systems management solutions, announced that the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has deployed Cisco Info Center to provide integrated, proactive and centralised management of its enterprise network.
Based on an OEM arrangement and the Netcool technology from Micromuse, Cisco Info Center solutions provide organisations with a single interface with which to access and manage data and critical business applications in realtime. Cisco Info Center software is an ultra-scalable solution that collects and processes thousands of events from numerous different sources, including all major network systems and security devices, making it an ideal management choice for large organisations such as the State of Texas Department of Information Resources.
"To effectively serve our customer needs and ensure that we maximise our uptime, we selected the Cisco Info Center enterprise-class solution to help us consolidate management of the various network elements and systems we have in place, and provide service-based views of the entire network," said Brian Kelly, Assistant Director of Telecommunications for the State of Texas Department of Information Resources.
The DIR selected the Cisco Info Center solution for its breadth of coverage, ease of use, high scalability, performance and ability to integrate quickly and easily with its already existing Cisco-centric network environment. The Cisco Info Center solution is providing a technology management 'umbrella' that will ultimately enable the DIR to phase out other fragmented management tools from their IT environment.
The DIR sets IT standards and guidelines for the State of Texas and encourages the efficient use and management of information resources. Among a variety of other responsibilities they also assist State agencies and other governmental entities in achieving their objectives by providing the most cost-effective use of information resources and availability of network services. The DIR's network provides interagency IP communications and supports all State agencies with Internet access statewide. The DIR also provides similar services to numerous cities, counties, education and university systems within the State of Texas, supporting tens of thousands of users.
generationE implemented the Cisco Info Center solution to provide realtime fault monitoring of its entire network infrastructure, as well as to help assure the availability and reliability of network-based customer services. In addition, the DIR plans to implement other Netcool-based solutions including System Service Monitors, a suite of software monitors, to proactively test the availability and response times of host systems and their applications, and the Webtop application to deliver collected and normalised data in a meaningful and intuitive format.
"We are pleased that State of Texas DIR has selected generationE Technologies to help them meet the challenges of providing high-availability services in a cost-effective manner," commented Casey Kindiger, CEO of generationE Technologies.
