QSR International appoints Kerri Lee Sinclair as CEO

QSR International today announced the appointment of Kerri Lee Sinclair as Chief Executive Officer following the decision by current Chief Executive Officer, John Owen, to step down after 15 years in the role.

Sinclair brings to QSR more than 20 years of management experience in the technology industry, and will commence on 28 September, 2015.

QSR Chairman, Wayne Fitzsimmons said, “I’m delighted to welcome Kerri Lee Sinclair to QSR. With Kerri Lee’s deep expertise in software and cloud with a strong track record in leading successful teams, she is uniquely positioned to lead QSR to the next phase of its growth.”

Sinclair joins QSR from Aconex, the world’s most widely-used cloud collaboration platform for construction, infrastructure, energy and resources projects, where she served as Senior Vice President of New Business. A member of the Aconex leadership team, she was responsible for developing new products that tested emerging market strategies developed internally or through acquisition and integration. Her previous roles at Aconex included several key operational roles including GM of Asia & India.  Before Aconex, Sinclair was General Manager, Market Response (Strategy) at Telstra Wholesale and last year was named one of Australia’s most powerful women in technology by Women’s Agenda. Sinclair is also on the Board of Springboard Australia Accelerator program, which supports women-led companies in technology and life sciences.

“QSR has a strong history in product innovation and keeping a step ahead of the changing data landscape,” said Sinclair. “I’m excited to lead the highly talented team at QSR in continuing to build upon the company’s strong presence in the education sector as well as position it for rapidly increasing relevance in new industries and geographic markets.”

John Owen, who has led QSR since 2001 as the company’s first Chief Executive Officer, is leaving to explore new challenges, however will continue to serve in an advisory capacity as a Non-Executive Director. While at the helm of QSR, Owen was responsible for driving the company’s rapid growth from a small academically-focused business, to a global software leader in qualitative data analysis with its NVivo software, which today has more than 1.5 million users across 150 countries.

“I’m very proud of the company’s achievements over the past 15 years – it’s been a thrilling ride to be part of the QSR growth story and to witness NVivo helping so many users around the world gain deeper insights from their data,” said Owen.

Fitzsimmons added, “I thank John for his tremendous contribution to our company, from its international expansion and significant growth in users, to the culture of innovation and success he has developed. I look forward to his continued support on the board as a Non-Executive Director.”
